When I think of the avocado fruit, I usually think of a healthy salad or toast with an avocado spread. Today, I want to talk about the benefits of using avocado in your hair and how you can create a home made hair mask to condition your hair and keep it looking fabulous.
The Avocado fruit is a type of power food. It has many health benefits and is also a healthy hair treatment choice. It has high fat content called monounsaturated fats. The hair you see on your scalp are not living cells but keratin protein which are basically dead cells. Living cells are located at the base of the hair follicle and these living cells need to keep generating and developing which is what adds to the length of your hair. The monounsaturated fats do well at assisting the living cells at doing this.
Avocado is well absorbed into hair, leaving your hair moisturised and rejuvenated. It also soothes the scalp, softens the hair and promotes healthy hair growth. It comes packed with vitamin E which is an antioxidant and repairs damaged scalp; and vitamin B which promotes hair growth.
Here is what you would need to create the mask:
- 1 Avocado
- Olive Oil
Cut the avocado into cubes and place in a bowl.
Pour 1 tbs olive oil into the bowl
Pour 1 tbs of glycerine into the bowl
Mix the contents together either using a fork or a blender.
Once all mixed, it should form a paste which will be a slightly thick consistency.
Once you have washed your hair with your desired hair shampoo, apply the mask to your entire hair, leaving it for 25 mins under a shower cap. Once the time is up, thoroughly rinse out the paste especially if you did not blend it to ensure all traces of the avocado is removed. Completed with your desired style.
